Sharing information from Fairfax County Public Works & Environmental Services that Yard Waste Collection Resumes this week, starting tomorrow, March 2nd.
Here are a few reminders:
- Yard waste includes leaves, grass trimmings, and shrub and tree trimmings.
- Yard waste does not include soil, mulch, sod, stumps, whole trees, large branches or limbs or clean-up from storm damage.
- Use compostable paper bags or rigid containers or tie yard waste into bundles.
- Limit yard waste to 10 compostable bags or containers per week.
- If you have more than 4 bundles, please schedule a brush special pickup.

Public Works & Environmental Services take yard waste to the county solid waste facilities. There, it is transported to regional commercial composting facilities where it is processed into compost, mulch, and soil amendments.
