Dear Chesterbrook Woods Residents,

This fall, the Chesterbrook Woods Citizens Association will publish the 2026-27 Community Directory—a valuable resource for Chesterbrook Woods residents. As in past years, we are working with AtoZ Connect, which specializes in creating directories for homeowners’ associations.

Advertising in the Directory is a great way to show support for the Chesterbrook Woods community while also giving residents the opportunity to support your business or service in return.

You can purchase a full-page or half-page ad, and there are premium placement opportunities available on the back cover, inside front cover, inside back cover, and divider pages.

To give every advertiser and community member an equal opportunity for the high-demand premium spots, we will be holding a lottery for the following locations: Back Cover, Inside Front Cover, Inside Back Cover, and Dividers. If you are interested in a premium placement, or a standard ad, please complete the stephanie by October 15, 2026.

After the lottery, Stephanie will contact you to confirm your ad placement. Please note: there is no need to send payment or artwork until your location has been finalized.

Update on the Power Line Burying Petition and 2nd Request for Signature Support

Dear Neighbors,

We hope you are all safe and navigating the aftermath of last night’s intense storm. Sharing an update from the committee leading efforts to bury powerlines in our neighborhood:

From the Committee On Power Line Burying

During the summer, the committee has been collecting signatures of Chesterbrook Woods neighbors who support the idea of burying power lines to reduce the risk of power outages. To date, we have 137 signatures or about 23% of the 540 households in our directory. Many thanks to those who have signed.

What will it take to grab Dominion Energy’s attention and add Chesterbrook Woods to the list of neighborhoods asking to have their power lines buried? The committee doesn’t have a firm answer but assumes we’ll need more than 50% (270) and are hoping for 75% (405).

Request: Please visit a mailbox of an address listed below to read and sign the petition by Friday, September 18th. This provides the committee some time to determine next steps before the CWCA Fall meeting.The petitions are hanging on the mailbox in a large plastic envelope marked "Petition". If you would like to sign but are physically unable to visit one of these locations, please email Arthur directly and he will gladly assist you.

Please be assured that signing this petition is simply a show of community interest. It does not commit you or your property to the project, nor does it give Dominion permission to begin any work. We kindly ask block captains and those who’ve already signed to mention this effort and encourage others to sign.

Resources from CWCA’s Environmental Day

Thank you to everyone who braved the rain clouds on Saturday to attend the CWCA Environmental Event and to our generous neighbors, Anna, Katya and Manuel who shared their knowledge and to Megan, Yelena and their kids for running the lemonade stand.

What a great morning learning about home efficiency, checking out solar and battery storage, chatting with not one but two master gardeners, one of whom is even a master naturalist. Those who walked down Forest, had a chance to see rainwater management, tree championship and invasives management all in one property. Lemonade and cookies were icing on the cake. And, it was great to have Supervisor Bierman there to share information on county initiatives and hear some of our concerns.

Hope to see you today, Saturday, Aug 22nd between 10 am -12 noon. Catch up with neighbors, enjoy some lemonade and get your questions answered about energy and environmental initiatives. The experts will be on Calla Drive and Forest Lane. Come for a tour of solar and battery storage (5900 Calla) at 10 am, 10:30, 11 or 11:30. Talk to a coach from goelectricdmv.org for ideas on boosting your home’s energy efficiency. If you’ve wondered how a heat-pump works, now’s the time to get your questions answered!

Have questions about native plants and trees? Get answers from the master gardeners along Calla and pick up a soil testing kit and info on managing the dreaded lantern fly. Check out the landscape conservation beds and new trees planted through the CWCA Tree Planting program at 1508 Forest (on the gravel road) just down the street from Calla and Forest.

Traffic/transit/transportation town hall tonight at 6 pm at the McLean Community Center

We received information late this afternoon about an active transportation town hall which the Fairfax County police will run at the McLean Community Center tonight at 6 pm. We’ve been advised that Supervisor Bierman, and employees of FCDOT and VDOT will be in attendance. Here’s a link to the PowerPoint for the meeting.
