Dear Chesterbrook Woods Residents,
Thank you to all who moved cars and other items from the street – most streets and cul-de-sacs were completely clear for plowing.
Sending some end of day updates regarding the storm and continued snow plowing efforts:
- First the obvious – this is a very unusual storm starting with 5” of snow, then over 10 hours of steady sleet and now freezing rain. It’s one of our most challenging clearing events.
- One of our two CW-contracted trucks had a mechanical problem earlier today, and we were down to one truck for the afternoon. Another truck should be arriving soon. Our contractor will continue to work the neighborhood and start salting/sanding tomorrow.
- VDOT has a new online tool that shows where their plows and contracted plows have been. We see that one VDOT contractor has been in part of Chesterbrook Woods (CW). Zoom in to our area and click on a few of the trucks to see the one that was in CW: https://plows.vdot.virginia.gov/Public/Map
- It helps if VDOT is here plowing in addition to our contractor. Generate a VDOT plow request using this link: https://my.vdot.virginia.gov. Tomorrow when it’s time to get salting/sanding, if you see a dangerous intersection or section of road, you can also submit a request to VDOT to salt/sand at: https://my.vdot.virginia.gov.
Fairfax and Arlington County Schools are closed tomorrow. The roads are expected to still be unsafe for driving tomorrow, despite the work that both CW and VDOT are doing to plow so we encourage you to stay off the roads if you can.
Thank you for your attention to this and stay safe out there!
